Stephanie Beyrich is affectionately known as the “hurricane of justice” by her community. Wikimedia Germany has awarded her the honorary title of “Monster of Law.” She is a lawyer, author, and presenter. She has been a podcaster and host of many formats such as “Jura & Trash”, „ALL EYES ON“ and “(R)ECHT INTERESSANT!” for over 5 years.

Stephanie Beyrich is committed to the rule of law and democracy and loves the German constitution. She supports students as a mentor on their way through law school, their legal clerkship, and their start in professional life. Stephanie Beyrich stands for authenticity and openness and is passionate about the legal profession.

At TEDxFreiburg, Stephanie Beyrich tackles a hot topic: AI and deep fakes. Deep fakes are deceptively realistic representations that are generated by AI. And this no longer only affects celebrities or politicians. The insidious thing is that advances in AI mean that just a few recordings—photos, videos, or even short voice messages—can be turned into a deceptively real AI clone.

A real loss of control for all of us—and a legal vacuum? In her talk, she shows how the rapid technological progress leaves us caught between human control and artificial intelligence. Where do we as a society actually want to go? What can we gain, but also what can we lose?
