With the Familienhörbuch gGmbH, which she founded in 2019, she aims to make exactly that possible for terminally ill mothers and fathers: to give them the space to tell their own story through a professionally produced audio autobiography.
The resulting family audiobooks offer children a personal legacy filled with memories, life experiences, and affection. For the parents, the recording process often brings clarity, support, and meaningful communication – especially in a time marked by illness, pain, and impending farewell.
Judith Grümmer’s original one-woman project has now grown into a thriving social enterprise: over 80 dedicated audiobiographers and sound designers produce the family audiobooks. More than 700 participants have already been accepted into the project.
