On 11 August 2024, 21 committed runners and supporters came together in Dietenbachpark to make a difference – in the truest sense of the word – despite a temperature of 32 degrees. Our charity run, organised as a community event by TEDxFreiburg, was not only a sporting challenge, but also a wonderful opportunity to do good and talk to each other. As always, we were supported by our partner lexoffice – special thank you!
Why we ran
‘Running unites us – and when we do it together for a good cause, it creates a very special energy.’ – Jule, TEDxFreiburg.
With this attitude, we set off on the 5 km route. For each of the first 50 runners, we donated €10 to the organisation Jung & Krebs. This organisation from Freiburg does outstanding work by offering support to young adults affected by cancer. Our special thanks go to Carsten Witte, who touched many people in March with his TED Talk ‘Cancer: Behind the mask’ and represents our connection to Jung & Krebs.
A motto that unites us
‘Within Reach’ – this was the motto of our last TEDx year. And on this day we were able to experience how this motto became reality. The discussions and dialogue after the run were ‘within reach’ in the truest sense of the word, approachable and open. It was an inspiring conclusion that showed once again how important movement – both figuratively and literally – is for our lives.
Outlook: Movement 2025
We are delighted that we were also able to announce our motto for 2025 at this event: ‘Movement’. This theme fits perfectly with our charity run, because movement is not only important physically, but also mentally and socially. Together, we want to keep moving, break new ground and get involved in our community.
Voices from the team
‘We didn’t mind the heat – on the contrary: it was great to see how running brings people together.’ – Chris, TEDxFreiburg
‘Without the team and the many helping hands, this event would not have been possible. Thanks to everyone who was there!’ – Robin, TEDxFreiburg
A special thank you
A big thank you goes to the team from Jung & Krebs, who were there to receive the donations in person and provide information about their valuable work. It was an honour for us to support them at this event.
We are already looking forward to next year and to keep moving with you all – in the spirit of ‘Movement’!
